CONCERT BAND
Armada Area Schools offer a variety of concert band programs consisting of wind and percussion instruments. Introduction to band takes place in 6th grade. This is a great opportunity to learn music fundamentals and beginning instrumental techniques. A budding musician can discover hidden talent by trying several instruments to find one that suits their personality and interests. Experimentation is encouraged throughout a student's musical journey. Make no mistake - a musical education is a wonderful gift.
Band students in 7th and 8th Grade are developing a greater appreciation for their musical instrument and making tremendous progress in their playing ability as individuals and as a group. Many students consider private musical lessons during this stage to further increase their knowledge. Others may feel they have to choose between a musical education or other interests such as sports. Instructors at Armada feel a student shouldn't have to choose one elective over another. Armada schedules can accommodate various electives, therefore students are encouraged to speak with their instructors or coaches about their activities.
By the time music students get to the high school level they continue to fine-tune their talents and gain more confidence. The introduction of marching band, playing in parades, and competing in festivals is hard work and very rewarding. Students continue to develop strong bonds with their fellow musicians. Once the marching season has ended, the students move on to concert band season.
High School Students can also enroll in Jazz Band class. Dedicated musicians start their school day at 6:40 am while learning jazz techniques, rhythm, and improvisation.
